This 1-2-1 Masterclass will demystify the dark art of black + white fine art printing. From image capture through to calibration, post-processing, proof set-up and final print, I will guide you through the entire process. Helping you to eliminate potential years of trial and error, this course will provide you with the knowledge you need to give your photographs the life they deserve.

• Session 1 (60 mins) - Image Capture. This first session will act as an initial consultation to get to know you and your work. After a review of your work, we'll delve into your image capture process and discuss your current aesthetic goals. 

​

• Session 2 (90 mins) - Post Processing. There are many ways that we can edit our RAW images to convert to B+W such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Capture One, plus various 'Plug-ins'. Being experienced with all of these options, I will show you how I prepare my own images for print. 

​

• Session 3 (60 mins) - Print Essentials. Calibration, colour space, ICC profiles, soft proofing - which are the best options for B+W? All of these subjects and more, demystified.

​

• Session 4 (90 mins) - Paper Choice and Final Print. Selecting the right paper is an absolutely essential ingredient for evoking the mood and desired aesthetic for your photographs.

By the end of our sessions together, you will feel confident and skilled at creating your own stunning black + white prints.

What will I need?

​

Of course your own images for us to work with, preferably shot in RAW format.

​

A good quality printer with B+W mode is desirable, although this is not essential. In fact you could quite happily enrol on this course simply for the theory. Advice on software, printers and paper can help you to decide on the right path for you.
